The Doug Harrison trained Couperin was a convincing winner of the Murray Mallee Winter Stayers Series Heat 2 at Echuca Monday.

Given a comfortable ride by Chris Symons, the Ne Coupez Pas gelding sat 3 behind the leader against the rail.  Coming round the last turn, Couperin kicked up a gear and surged to the front winning by 1 1/4 lengths.

Today was Couperin’s first try out to 2100m and it appears the gelding has hit his mark!

A great ride by Chris Symons.

Congratulations to the O’Brien and Walton families for Couperin’s win.
