There was a light mist of rain and dark clouds looming in the back drop creating an electric atmosphere as the horses entered the mounting yard. Alrouz was set and ready to run.
In form apprentice Jake Bayliss took Alrouz across the field from the wide barrier to settle in first place. It was a step up in distance for the son of Fayrouz and he rose to the challenge. Coming round the turn for home Alrouz dug deep and kicked on to take the lead by two lengths while holding off a last ditch challenge by the second place getter.
Alrouz has won the TJ Harrison Plate. A race named in honour of the late Mr Tom Harrison, who has legend status at Cranbourne Racecourse and more notably father of Doug, Helen, and Tony of Doug Harrison Racing.
Congratulations to Doug Harrison Racing and Owners of Alrouz for taking home the TJ Harrison Plate.
An honourable win.
Jake Bayliss teams with Doug Harrison Racing again tomorrow – Monday – for last start winner Tycoon Rob race at Benalla. Looking for another great ride!
Race 8 Benalla at 3:00pm Tycoon Rob.
