“WE LOOK FORWARD TO RACING THIS BEAUTIFUL MOVING HORSE, WITH YOU!”
Doug Harrison Racing & Ash Richards from Intel Bloodstock have joined forces again at the 2023 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, securing a lovely black or brown colt by another exciting son by I Am Invincible in Strasbourg.
The impressive physical that Strasbourg is being a $750,000 yearling transpired under saddle when he was a huge winner of the G2 BRC Sires Produce Stakes at two, the same race that Zoustar won before emerging as one of Australia’s leading sires.
Lot 282 a Super Vobis nominated colt was bred by Bridsan Bloodstock of Flinders Park Stud, which is situated on the Mornington Peninsula & elevated on high coastal land just outside the Flinders township. The farm offers far reaching expansive views of Bass Strait and Western Port Bay. Good rainfall throughout this part of Victoria ensures the pasture remains green most of the year. Importantly, paddocks and yards are never overstocked.
Flinders Park has been a very successful nursery, with recent stakes horses coming off the farm in Taunting, Sharp Response & Stakes winners Tycoon Humma, & Humma Humma a G3 winner & dual stakes winner, while also being placed another nine times in group or listed company. But without doubt G2 winner & G1 winner Pompeii Ruler, is the farms champion to be raised & grazed at Flinders Park Stud.
“The first time we saw this colt was on the farm in pre-inspections with the Strasbourg colt presenting with presence & good movement — he was a must for a reinspect at Premier.”
inspected this colt three times prior to him entering the ring & on each occasion his temperament was spot on.” “He is a rich dark skin colt, who is a beautiful moving horse & light on his feet.”
“He has a lovely frame through his skeletal system & is built like a sprinter-miler not too heavy/coarse or weak, but a perfect blend of strength & symmetrical balance.”
“The horse appeared intelligent, has good angles through his shoulder, length & strength to his forearm around the extensors & flexors & has relatively short bone under his knee which is great for soundness.”
“The colt has excellent shape to his hind quarter and good muscle mass around his gaskin, hock set which is perfectly placed.” “We valued this colt at 100K + GST and were absolutely thrilled to secure him under our valuation atjus 80K plus GST.”
This colt by Strasbourg is a son of I Am Invincible who stood his first four seasons at stud for just $11,000 before rising to $247,500 in his 13” season at stud last year. His younger sire sons who have stock at racing age have started exceptionally well, with two of them Hellbent & Koybashi inside the top 10 second season sires, with Hellbent sitting 2’” with a staggering 33 less runners to the current leader accurate to date.
Strasbourg’s sire is I Am Invincible is currently the leading sire in Australia this season 22/23 with the most individual winners, the most individual stakes winners, & a big margin leader by general overall earnings. While another son by I Am Invincible in Brazen Beau who stands at $44,000 can now be credited to 12 individual stakes winners while having two active sire sons himself at stud in North Pacific covering just under 350 his first two season & Tassort who had yearlings sell up to $200,000 this year. The I Am Invincible line is continuing to gain strength & popularity through the breeders, buying bench, & foremost on the racetrack.
This colt is bred on the Invincible Spirit X King’s Best cross which has already produced four stakes winners from just over 53 runners with colts! Striking at a powerful 7.5P» stakes winners to runners. Headlined by a sire son in Kingman with G2 winner Headman. If we travel back to the broodmare grand sire Kingmambo cross with Invincible Spirit, you will find former top two-year-old National Defense bred on the exact cross — Invincible Spirit over a Kingmambo mare.
King‘s Best has been a prolific broodmare sire with five G1 winners, 13 G2 winners, 11 G3 winners & countless stakes winners. In the Southern Hemisphere we can find dual G1 winner Egg Tart BRC Oaks & SAJC Oaks & dual G1 placed in a George Main & Doomben Cup out of a King’s Best mare, Sword Of Light G2 winner of the VRC Lets Elope Stakes & G3 winner of a Blue Diamond preview, Happy Galaxy G2 winner of the ATC Expressway & Kinglike G2 Danehill Stakes winner to name a few.
This colt is out former two-time winner Autumun Zest (King’s Best) who has had four winners to date including the stakes placed Luen On Eagle & metro winner Zesty Belle. The grand dam Empower was a pre – Xmas two-year-old stakes winner of the Listed Widden Stakes while also being a G2 placed filly in a Magic Night at two producing five winners herself. One would say this mare is leaving her best foals to date physically, with her last two yearlings selling for equal value and the most she has secured at public auction.
