DOUG Harrison may reconsider a trip to Adelaide next Saturday with Search Squad, winner of today’s New Zealand Bloodstock Handicap at Sportingbet Park.
Harrison said he’d planned to take Search Squad to the Group 2 Sportingbet Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville before the gelding flopped at Caulfield last week.
While he did not know if Search Squad would back up for a third consecutive Saturday he said it would be something to consider over the coming days.
“I think he has the makings of quite a handy horse,” Harrison predicted.
“It took a little while to get him going, but he’s always shown a lot of ability. He has just kept improving.
“He can really ping off a high speed. You like them when they can do things like that.
“If he had won last week I was going to take him over to Adelaide, but know we’ll just have to see what we do with him.”
Harrison paid $85,000 for Search Squad, a son of Falkirk, at a ready to run sale in New Zealand.
He said he was looking for another Falkirk after he had previously bought Falcent and he landed up Search Squad.
Search Squad, an $11 chance, scored by a short neck from Self Sense, $13, with a half neck to Tankster, $18, third.
Darney Gib, the $5 favorite, finished a close up fifth.
